We recently took delivery of Nissan's new contender in the essential user segment, the freshly styled Tiida. The Tiida is quickly becoming a familiar face on South African roads, and with good reason.
One of the first things that will strike you about this car is the amounts of space available. Its extended roof creates the kind of roominess not usually associated with a C-segment car. Even with the drivers seat moved right to the back, i can easily fit my 1.9m frame into the back seat without my knees even touching the front seat. Amazingly, they also managed to fit 18 storage compartments into the large cabin, including a huge glovebox, sunglass holder and spaces to put just about anything else. It also has a more than generous 467 litre boot to add to this competent package.
The subject of our long term evaluation, the 1.6 Acenta sedan, has a long list of standard features. It has high levels of fit and finish throughout the cabin, including the fitment of classic woodgrain panels . On the safety front, its equipped with active and passive safety features such as electric power steering, ABS, EBD, brake assist as well as driver, passenger and curtain airbags. Other standard features include a six speaker radio/cd player, and a very effective air conditioning system.
Over the next few months we will be conducting an intensive fleet evaluation on this car, and already it looks as if it will become a fleet favourite.
