Summary
The Chevrolet Aveo sedan offers attractive pricing and a pleasant interior. There is nothing spectacular about it, including fuel economy which is significantly below its major competitors, but with more than 6000km on the road I really got to appreciate the simplicity and honesty of the Aveo.
With the backup and support of General Motors in South Africa and its well represented dealer network I think this car should be on any fleet’s short list in the R115000 to R130000 price bracket.
With regards to the line-up and the spec levels FleetCUBE would recommend the 1.5 LS model to be the pick of the bunch. (The cents per kilometre cost calculation above also indicates that this car is very competitive for its size and spec levels). The only compromise if you opted for the LS instead of the LT would be the leather seats, electric windows and mirrors and the alloy wheels. With the LS model in mind we compared it with the Ford Ikon, VW Polo Classic and the Yaris Sedan T3. (See table below)
